Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) has advised Archer Hotel Capital on the sale of the Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade. The sale was carried out jointly with Event Hotels. The purchaser is Deutsche Finance International, a subsidiary of Deutsche Finance Group. The transaction was undertaken in partnership with Cells Group, a leading German real estate developer. Sparkasse Berlin is providing the acquisition financing.
The five-star hotel with a total of 394 rooms benefits from an attractive location in Berlin Mitte. The district is a popular location for a large number of international and German companies as well as important political institutions and benefits from good public transport connections. Deutsche Finance International and Cells Group want to realise a new use concept that includes offices, restaurants and bars as well as a modernised hotel.
The Freshfields team comprised Julia Haas (Lead; Frankfurt), Victoria Hills (London; both Real Estate), Boris Dzida (Labour Law; Hamburg), Sarah Kutsche, Julian Reinecke (both Düsseldorf), Moritz Heidbuechel (Frankfurt), Iaroslava Arakelian (Frankfurt; all Real Estate).
