Raquel is a trusted adviser in employment law, enabling organisations to achieve their objectives through effective people management.
As head of our people and reward practice in Spain, and co-head of Global Markets, she combines deep regional knowledge with a global perspective to help clients develop sophisticated employment strategies that work seamlessly across borders.
Raquel’s practice spans to both advisory and contentious work. She advises on all employment-related and benefits issues, guiding clients through this highly regulated landscape with sustainable solutions that adapt to legislative and regulatory changes.
Raquel specialises in helping companies navigate complex workforce challenges, including global recruitment and retention strategies, individual and collective redundancies, cross-border transactions, outsourcing projects, and business transfers, remuneration policies in financial institutions, investigations and sensitive discrimination and harassment matters.
Drawing on extensive litigation experience, Raquel helps clients protect their interests in complex employment disputes. She has successfully defended automotive groups, financial institutions and services companies in collective and strategic decisions and financial institutions against claims for payment of bonuses and incentives. Raquel’s experience also encompasses global investigations, where she helps clients manage stakeholder expectations and meet their regulatory and employment obligations.
Working with leading listed and non-listed US and EU companies and financial institutions, including UPS, WPP, UBS and Advent International, Raquel provides practical, business-focused solutions across multiple jurisdictions.
Raquel has been a member of the board of Forelab from 2020 to 2024 and the Spanish board member of EELA (European Employment Lawyers Association) until June 2025. From January 2025, she is an officer of the Diversity and Equality Law Committee of the IBA.
She frequently contributes to newspapers such as Cinco Días offering a deeper understanding of diversity issues, and has collaborated in various publications on employment and diversity issues.
Her international perspective is enhanced by time spent on secondment to our London office, and she operates fluently across Spanish, English, French and Italian, offering insights that bridge cultural and market gaps.
- Advising Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) on all employment aspects of their integration with Celgene, and on general employment issues.
- Advising on the employment aspects of the formation of various European Companies (SE), including neo-bank N26.
- We advised a company of the security sector on a potential litigation employment matter on breach of the non-competition clause of its former General Manager.
- Advising Signicat, S.L.U. on general employment matters, including advice on working time, on call system, legal representatives’ rights, and internal reorganization procedures as a part of their global alignment with the Signicat group.
- Advising WPP and some of its group companies on multiple contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
- Advising Cinven, KKR and Providence on the employment aspects of their €3bn voluntary public takeover bid for the entire share capital of MÁSMÓVIL IBERCOM.
- Advising JD Sports Fashion Plc (JD Sports), the sports fashion and outdoor brands retailer, on its acquisition of the remaining 49.98% of shares in Iberian Sports Retail Group, S.L. (ISRG) for total cash consideration of €500.1 million.
- Advising Lilium GmbH on general recurrent employment matters, including advice on reduction of the working time, remunerations, application of the collective bargaining agreement and other day-to- day employment requests.
- Advising MGC on its acquisition of the IT8 Group, a leading independent engineering services company offering mechanical, electrical, programming, and construction services, headquartered in Valencia and serving key customers across five global locations in Spain, the United States, Mexico, Germany, and India.
