About Jordi Wals
Jordi is an experienced corporate lawyer in our Amsterdam office. He specialises in domestic and cross-border public and private M&A, with a focus on energy transition transactions and energy related infrastructure.
In the past 13 years, Jordi has advised corporates, sponsors and other financial investors on a wide range of issues, including M&A, joint ventures, restructurings, disclosure requirements and corporate governance.
Prior to joining Freshfields in 2021, Jordi worked at another leading international law firm in Amsterdam and Madrid, as well as at an M&A and energy law boutique firm that he co-founded.
Jordi is fluent in Dutch, English and Spanish.

- Advising EQUANS on the sale of EQUANS Energy Solutions, a leading provider of Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (ATES) end-to-end solutions to households and businesses in the Netherlands
- Advising EQUANS on the sale of Aardyn, a developer and producer of geothermal energy
- Advising Arcus Infrastructure Partners on its sale of E-Fiber, one of the Netherlands’ largest wholesale open fibre broadband network providers, to KKR portfolio company ODF
- Advising Getir on its acquisition of Gorillas in a share swap deal combining two fast delivery groups operating across Europe and the US
- Advising Funecap Groupe on the acquisition of a portfolio of crematoria and related real estate from DELA as well as on the acquisition of the Facultatieve Group, comprising a portfolio of crematoria in the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland as well as Facultatieve Technologies, the global market leader in the fields of design, construction and maintenance of cremators, filtration and incineration equipment
- Advising Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize and its subsidiary bol.com on the acquisition of a majority stake in delivery expert Cycloon in 2022 and the subsequent acquisition of the remaining minority stake in 2023
- Advising McCain Foods, one of the world's largest companies in the prepared potato and savoury segments, on its acquisition of Scelta Products, a Dutch producer of frozen foods
