About Veronika Timofeeva

Veronika Timofeeva is a senior associate in our International Arbitration Group, specialised in investor-State disputes and international commercial arbitration.

Veronika is trained in both common and civil law. She advises private parties and sovereign entities under a variety of institutional rules and applicable laws, as well as in related annulment proceedings. Her industry experience includes energy, mining, finance and construction sectors.

Veronika holds a dual degree in English and French law from King’s College London and Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne. She is a member of the New York and Paris bars, and a Solicitor of England and Wales. She speaks English, French and Russian.

 

Recent work

  • Representing the Government of Romania in an ICSID arbitration brought under the Energy Charter Treaty by an Austrian company operating in the oil sector, in relation to its investment in one of the biggest oil refineries in Romania.
  • Representing a consortium of two major Asian engineering and construction companies in an ICC arbitration against a joint venture and its shareholders, in relation to claims under an EPC contract for the construction and transfer of a world scale fertiliser plant in North Africa.
  • Representing an international oil company in an ad hoc arbitration under UNCITRAL Rules arising out of a tender process for the supply of equipment to an oil and gas project in Kazakhstan.
  • Representing Inter RAO, one of Russia’s largest public energy companies, and its Georgian and Dutch subsidiaries in SCC and ICSID arbitrations against Georgia relating to the adjustment of electricity tariffs and other regulatory measures.
  • Representing a US food services company in a post-M&A arbitration governed by Turkish law in relation to the acquisition of a restaurant franchise in Turkey.
  • Representing the Claimant in a commercial arbitration arising out of a contract for the sale of gas turbines for a power plant located in a former Soviet State.
  • Representing a European manufacturing company in an ICC arbitration against a competitor in relation to a post-M&A dispute relating to a failure to comply with certain representations and warranties in a share purchase agreement concluded between the parties.
