Yoonji is an Associate in our international arbitration group in Asia.
A native Korean speaker, Yoonji has experience advising clients on a variety of international arbitrations and commercial disputes, including advising investors on disputes under investment treaties.
Recent work
- Acting for a Canadian multinational asset management company in its SIAC arbitration on its failed sale of a large commercial complex in South Korea.
- Acted for Akfel Commodities in its ICSID arbitration against Turkey relating to its investment in the Turkish natural gas and energy sector.
- Acting for a global oil and gas major on four large-scale civil litigations ensuing from allegations of involvement in fraudulent oil trading.
- Acted for Deutsche Bank in the cost proceedings following DB’s successful claim against Sebastian Holdings Inc. for around US$230m and successful defence of US$7bn counterclaim, the largest post credit crunch claim heard in the English Commercial Court.
- Acted for a PRC entity on a landmark keepwell bond default case, the first ever instance of interaction between the Hong Kong court's determination of keepwell arrangements and recognition of Mainland reorganisation proceedings.
Qualifications
Yoonji studied law at Oxford University and is qualified to practise law in England and Wales.
