About Haris Ismail

Haris is a Senior Associate in our Antitrust Litigation group, based in London.

Haris advises on complex commercial litigation (including private follow-on damages actions and standalone abuse of dominance claims) as well as arbitrations and antitrust investigations.  His experience extends across the Competition Appeal Tribunal, High Court, Court of Appeal and UK Supreme Court.

During his time at Freshfields, Haris has been seconded to the firm's Berlin and Silicon Valley offices.  He has also served as a Judicial Assistant at the High Court (Commercial Court). 

Haris has an active pro bono practice and regularly appears as a volunteer advocate on behalf of appellants before the Asylum Support Tribunal, working with the Asylum Support Appeals Project.

Recent work

  • Advising Volvo/Renault Trucks on its global defence to follow-on litigation arising out of a European Commission infringement decision.
  • Advising a sports club on competition law issues arising from proposed changes to the applicable regulatory framework.
  • Advising Continental AG on its global defence to follow-on litigation arising out of a European Commission infringement decision.
  • Advising a sports club on a potential claim against its regulator. 
  • Advising an individual, pro bono, on nationality and statelessness issues arising from his threatened deportation from the UK.
