About Hugh Goodwin
Hugh is a senior associate in the Global Transactions group, working in our New York office. His practice focuses on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, minority investments, and other significant corporate matters for public and private companies in a range of industries. Hugh has extensive experience advising clients on transactions in the Asia-Pacific region in particular, having practiced for five years in Japan and over three years in New Zealand.
Recent work
- Nippon Express Holdings, Inc. on the acquisition of the global logistics group cargo-partner, headquartered in Austria and consisting of 63 target companies around the world, for a total consideration of up to €1.4bn.
- The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. on its acquisition of Trelleborg Wheel Systems Holding AB, the wheel systems business of Swedish-listed Trelleborg AB, for an enterprise value of over €2bn; and separately on its pending $905m acquisition of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s off-the-road tire business.
- Toray Industries, Inc. on entering into a joint venture with LG Chem, Ltd. (LG Chem).
- SSE plc on an agreement with Pacifico Energy K.K. (a Japanese renewable energy developer) to create a joint ownership company to pursue offshore wind energy development projects in Japan.
- Ajinomoto Co., Inc on the sale of its entire equity stake in Ajinomoto Animal Nutrition Europe S.A.S., a subsidiary engaged in feed-use amino acid production in Europe, to METabolic EXplorer S.A.
- Eppendorf AG on its acquisition of the centrifuge business of Japan’s Koki Holdings.
- Marubeni Corporation in its acquisition of Danish Salmon A/S together with Nippon Suisan Kaisha.
- A major Japanese energy company on its global corporate re-organization of approximately $1bn of clean energy assets.
- Japanese listed companies on their growth equity and venture capital investments and CVC structures.
